After settling into your room, you’ll rejoin the group for a welcome dinner and brief orientation.

Travel for 3-4 hours to Cape Coast to explore the Slave Dungeon.
Check in to the Coconut Grove Beach Hotel or Lemon Beach Resort
Drive along the coast through several fishing villages and coconut lined beaches. Visit the Cape Coast Castle which was originally started by the Swedes in 1652.
The Cape Coast Castle served as the headquarters and seat of the British colonial government until 1877
We will also visit Elmina Castle erected by the Portuguese in 1482, one of the most important stops on the route of the Atlantic slave trade.

Kakum Canopy Walk & Village of Abrim Saaman
Begin your morning with a guided walk along the Kuntan Trail, home to numerous medicinal trees and rich plant life. Then, take on the exhilarating climb to the Canopy Walkway, suspended 100 feet above the forest floor, offering sweeping views of the lush rainforest’s flora and fauna.
In the afternoon, visit the village of Abrim Saaman. Bring along school supplies and other donated items for the community service project, then explore this traditional farming village and learn firsthand about daily life in rural Ghana.
Return to the hotel for dinner and rest.

Visit to the Slave River (Assin Manso)
Dinner at Mabel's Table (American Soul Food Cuisine)
Travel to Assin Manso the “Slave River” which was the last rest stop for the captives on their “one-way” trek to the slave dungeons along the Coast.
Ashante (the Gold Region)
In the morning, we will visit the Manhyia Palace Museum, where we will learn about the history of the Ashante Kingdom. Then we will take a walking / shopping tour of the woodcarvers and kente clothe village.
Check in and dinner at the hotel.

Head Back to Accra
Travel back to Accra and continue to the Arts and Crafts Market for a wide variety of Ghanaian hand-crafted items.

The Heritage Healing Debrief will take place post tour in Accra at 12:00pm GMT - 3:30pm GMT.
Participants will engage in a deeply enriching review of their Return Experiences. Additionally, thought provoking conversations will better prepare participants for sharing their experience upon return to the United States.
